What is Afterpay?
Afterpay is a layby service for the digital age. Selecting 'Afterpay' as your payment option at the checkout, allows you to pay 25% of the cost of your order today, and we will ship your order to you right away.
Then simply pay the remainder of your order cost directly to Afterpay over the following 6 weeks. There are no extra costs, and no need to sign up before you shop.
1. Place your order on Makeup.co.nz
2. Select 'Afterpay' at the checkout. You will be forwarded to the Afterpay website.
3. Enter your email address, and mobile number.
4. Afterpay will text you a code. Enter the code, then enter your name and address.
5. Now make your first payment/deposit - this is 25% of your order cost. You can pay by debit card or credit card.
6. Once processed, you will be forwarded back to the confirmation screen on Makeup.co.nz. That's it! We will ship your order our right away.
What Happens Next?
Afterpay will automatically charge your card every 2 weeks for the remaining balance:

Do I need an Afterpay Account to start with?
You do not need an Afterpay account to start with. Simply select 'Afterpay' as your payment option at the checkout, and they will create a free account for you on the spot.
What about Gift Vouchers?
Afterpay is not available on Gift Vouchers. If an Gift Voucher is in your cart, Afterpay won't be available as a payment option. Simply remove the Gift voucher from your cart, and the Afterpay option will become available again.
Will Afterpay do a Credit Check?
There are no credit checks, no lending applications, no long forms to fill out.
What about Interest Charges?
Most importantly, there are no interest charges or fees to use Afterpay. If you make your scheduled repayments on time, you will never pay any fees.
How does Afterpay make money if it's free to use?
Afterpay charges Retailers a fee to accept Afterpay. The only charges conusmers might pay to Afterpay are late fees, if they miss their payments.
Afterpay will auto-charge 25% of your order cost, every 2 weeks following your initial order date, until the balance is paid in full. If you miss a scheduled payment, Afterpay will charge a late fee ($10).
If you do miss a payment, Afterpay will email you and allow you to login before 11pm the next day to try your card again, or pay by a different method. If you do this, the late fee won't be charged.
Once your order is all paid off, they will stop charging your card each fortnight. The best idea is to make sure you have enough balance on your card, for when they auto-charge your card each 2 weeks.
How do I know when my card will be charged?
Afterpay will email you a payment schedule with dates, as soon as you place your order.
You can also log in to your Afterpay account at any time (or download the Afterpay app) to see the dates of your upcoming payments.
You can even pay your next payment early, or completely pay off your balance at any time. Afterpay will never charge you fees, unless you miss a payment.
Is there anything else I should know?
It is important to note that by using Afterpay you are making your payments to Afterpay, not Makeup.co.nz.
Afterpay will pay us your entire order cost up front, and you will pay them directly for each payment. Afterpay will charge your card each 2 weeks until paid, and Afterpay will show on your statement, not Makeup.co.nz.

What if I need a refund?
Please contact Makeup.co.nz for any refund requests. Refunds will be dealt with according to our usual Orders & Returns Policy.
Note that refunds won't come from us, they will come from Afterpay, so they may take an extra couple of days due to two companies being involved.
If you have other Afterpay purchases from other retailers in your Afterpay account, they may use your refund to pay off your other purchases faster for you. This will be made clear to you when Afterpay contact you about your refund status, after contacting us in the first instance regarding refunds.

When using Afterpay there is an order limit of $1000. Afterpay is definitely a great new way to pay for things, but don't go overboard!
Make sure you only spend an amount that you will be able to pay back over the next 6 weeks.
